[D]ella McCarron, a former student from St. Benedict’s Catholic High School’s West Cumbria Sixth Form Centre in Whitehaven, has been named the Lamont Pridmore Business Studies Student of the Year 2018.

The award sponsored by the award-winning Cumbrian accountancy firm was presented to Della at a special awards night hosted by the school in Red Lonning.

A trophy was handed over to the former business studies student by Stuart Edger, Lamont Pridmore’s local Managing Director, for her outstanding progress and effort in the subject.

She was chosen by her teacher Paul Charlton having improved on her target grade of a pass to achieve a distinction*, making her a “worthy winner”.

Speaking after presenting the award to Della, Stuart said: “We are very proud of our association with schools and students across Cumbria and so it is a real honour to meet someone like Della who is so committed to business studies.

“I am sure with the dedication she has shown in this subject she will have a successful career ahead of her no matter what she chooses to apply her skills to.”

Addressing students in a booklet on the night, Headteacher Ian Smith said: “We are very proud of our students and we hope that by rewarding students past and present, it will them with fond and lasting memories of their time in the sixth form.”
