[A] PENSIONER accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon his wife has denied the allegation.
William Ritson, 72, faced one charge when appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON).
During a short hearing, Ritson pleaded not guilty to the allegation that he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm upon Valerie Elaine Ritson.
The charge arises out of an incident which is said to have taken place on October 23 last year.
A trial, estimated to last two days, is due to be held in front of a jury at the crown court on April 9.
In the meantime Ritson, of Hillside Close, Ellenborough, Maryport, was granted unconditional bail by Judge Barbara Forrester.
