Penrith man still being questioned after Carlisle attack

[P]OLICE investigating an assault within the P B Sports store in Carlisle are appealing for witnesses to come forward who can assist with their inquiries.

A man entered the store and assaulted a 50-year-old male. The victim suffered burns to his legs and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary.

A 60-year-old man from Stainton near Penrith is still being questioned in relation to the incident after he was arrested by armed police last night in Stainton.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Police are seeking assistance from members of the public who were in the area of PB Sports in Wigton Road on the morning of Tuesday 13 February, 2018.

“Police would like to hear from pedestrians and shoppers who may have seen anyone entering or leaving the PB Sports or possibly behaving suspiciously in or around the area.

“We would also from anyone who drove along Wigton Road on that morning between 9am and 12pm who has a dash-cam on their vehicle.”
