A189 reopen after suspicious package found in vehicle

[T]he A189 has been re-opened after reports of a suspicious package in Northumberland.

It had been closed after reports that a suspicious package had been left in an abandoned white 4×4.

At around 7.45am this morning police received a report of a vehicle abandoned in a field in North Seaton.

Emergency services attended, along with the bomb disposal unit, and they have now confirmed the item is no longer being treated as suspicious.

As a result the item has been recovered and the road re-opened.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the owner of the vehicle in question and anyone with information is encouraged to get in touch with police.
