[A] GROUP of Kendal artists are holding their first retrospective and hoping sales will boost a local arts charity.
The exhibition “The Collection” will be held by Kendal Arts Community at Space2Create at The Factory, off Aynam Road, Kendal from mid-March to mid-April.
KAC co-ordinator, Zoe Baker, said: “Individual members of KAC have held exhibitions at Space2Create and it is a great space to display art.
“And we are also committing to donate a quarter of sales fees to Space2Create to help fund their tremendous activities.”
Space2Create supports and helps people recovering from a range of physical and mental health conditions, by encouraging them to use their creativity.
Kendal Arts Community set up in 2011 as a group of Kendal based artists, artisans, crafts people, musicians and writers who hold regular exhibitions of new works, mainly at Ruskin’s bar in Stricklandgate.
It aims to incorporate as many people as possible across a wide range of disciplines and abilities to encourage artistic development in the local area. It has more than 200 members.
Each of KAC’s active members is submitting up to three pieces of artwork, some of which will have featured in previous exhibitions, for the Space2Create show.
Some of the artists will be manning the exhibition during the month to talk further about their work. For timings see Kendal Arts Community’s page on Facebook or see www.kendalartscommunity.co.uk
They are also in talks with Kendal Town Mayor, Councillor Andy Blackburn, about hanging their annual Links project, a form of artistic Chinese Whispers, in Kendal Town Hall.
And KAC is also behind the Kendal Summer Arts, planned to be held this year at Kendal Town Hall at the end of July.
Anyone interested in finding out more can join KAC at its next monthly meeting at New Union Inn, Stricklandgate, at 7pm. on Tuesday, March 6.
And all are welcome for the preview of the Collection exhibition at Space2Create at 6.30pm on Friday, March 16.
