[A] CANNABIS dealer has been handed a suspended prison sentence by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.
Joseph Grisdale’s offending came to light when police investigated an unrelated road traffic matter in the city on April 14 last year.
When the 26-year-old’s van was searched, almost 115g of cannabis was recovered along with digital weighing scales and cash.
An iPhone seized from Grisdale suggested a wider criminal involvement. A cannabis user since the age of 13, he confessed to police he had latterly arranged the supply of the class B drug to friends and associates.
Grisdale admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply; supplying the class B drug between May, 2016, and April last year; and the simple possession of five class A ecstasy tablets.
A man of previous good character, he was backed by a number of supportive character references.
Grisdale, of Southey Street, Keswick, had an eight-month jail term suspended for 12 months by Recorder Ciaran Rankin, and must complete 140 hours’ unpaid work.
