[P]rism Arts are looking for people who have a personal connection to Sellafield to come and share their stories with a small group of school children and adults with learning disabilities and autism. The group are researching Cumbria’s nuclear industry to inspire an exhibition they are creating together for Science Week in February and March 2019 at the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven.
They are hoping people with any stories about Sellafield will join them for about 30 minutes at Beacon Museum, Whitehaven on Wednesday 14th March between 10:00am until 3:00pm.
If you would like to get involved or find out more details please contact on Prism Arts office on 01228 587691 or email [email protected]
“Having the opportunity to talk to someone with a personal connection with Cumbria’s nuclear industry will be invaluable. You could work for Sellafield now or in the past, could have grown up with a relative who worked there or helped build it. We would love to hear your stories.” – Ali McCaw, Prism Arts Creative Director
This Heritage Lottery funded project involves members of Prism Arts Studio Theatre West, together with pupils from Distington Community and Seascale Primary Schools.
The three groups are learning about the changes to West Cumbria as a result of the Nuclear Industry, from John Dalton and his Atomic Theory right up until the present day with help from Cockermouth Heritage, the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven Archives, Sellafield Ltd, National Nuclear Laboratory, University of Manchester’s Dalton Cumbrian Facility and the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry.
Their research will inspire a piece of theatre and an art exhibition for Science Week in February and March 2019 at the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven.
