[O]ver 350 students from, Norman Street , Belle Vue, Bishop Harvey Goodwin School, Pennine Way, High Hesket, Stanwix, Inglewood Juniors and St Margaret Marys Primary Schools are taking part in the 8th annual Dance competition at Carlisle’s Sands Centre.
They will be joined by around 40 dancers from Central Academy’s DanceCo who will performing a spectacular opening number from the hit film, The Greatest Showman with host Connor Cooke.
The show is produced by Rocket Theatre Group in Carlisle, Wendy Boothman of Rocket said: “We are delighted to be producing this year’s show, we see such amazing performances from the local Primary Schools, there is a huge appetite for Dance and Performing Arts in Carlisle.
“Our Primary schools are covering themes such as the stress of SATS exams and Heroes of the NHS. Our 6th Formers from Central Academy DanceCo are delivering workshops in the afternoon at the show as well as working back stage during the evening. These events give so much to young people, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem it also develops a huge sense of pride in their schools and the performances that they create.”
The show will be hosted by ex Central student and DanceCo member, Connor Cooke.
The Judges are Karen Jones and Stevie Prickett of University of Cumbria.
Awards will be made for various aspects of the performances such as Best Dramatic skills and Entertainment and Performance skills.
The two final awards of the evening are awarded by the participants of the show they are the Performers Choice and the Spirit Award for the friendliest team on the day.
