[A] MAN caught with half a kilo of heroin in Carlisle has admitted a drug supply crime.
Lee Geoffrey Kerr faced one charge when he appeared at the city’s crown court over a video link from custody.
Kerr, 30, admitted possessing class A heroin with intent to supply it. The offence arises out of an incident in the Harraby area of Carlisle just before midnight on February 7.
It is said by the prosecution that Kerr was caught in possession of half a kilo of that illegal substance – which had an estimated street value of tens of thousands of pounds.
The court heard he had confessed to his crime on the basis that he was simply a courier of the heroin who had been told to take a package from “address A to address B”. However, a prosecutor told Judge James Adkin the Crown was “sceptical” about that admission.
Judge Adkin adjourned the case, telling Kerr, of Warnell Drive, Carlisle, he would be brought to the court later this month and invited to give evidence about his role.
In the meantime Kerr was remanded in custody.
