[O]fficers investigating an incident in Whitehaven where a woman was seriously injured are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
At 11.30pm on 17 February 2018, police received a report of a woman inside an address in Duke Street in Whitehaven with a serious chest injury – believed to have been caused by a bladed article.
Officers attended and arrested 30-year-old Jason Cogan, of Duke Street. He was subsequently charged with wounding with intent.
Cogan is due to appear on remand at Carlisle Crown Court on 19 March 2018.
The injured woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries but has since been discharged and is recovering well.
As part of the on-going investigations, officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything in the vicinity of Duke Street in the time leading up to the police being called.
