[L]ove being part of team? Good with people? Enjoy heritage? Or just like being busy? Following the announcement that Carlisle Castle will present Weeping Window by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper at Carlisle Castle from 23 May to 8 July, English Heritage is looking to attract an army of volunteers who want to get involved and who are ready to meet and greet on an epic scale.
Keen that everyone has a memorable and enjoyable visit, this ‘call out’ for volunteers offers a unique opportunity in this the final year of 14-18 NOW’s UK-wide tour of the iconic poppies. Carlisle Castle is one of just six locations around the country to host the poppies. Volunteers are asked to help the Castle team get ready for visitors and be part of a busy team for some or all of the 47 days that the poppies are on site.
Verity Hancock Head of Volunteering at English Heritage says: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a very special time, special for the Castle as well as the city of Carlisle. We’re looking for volunteers who want to be part of the next chapter in Carlisle Castle’s history and contribute to its legacy. We’d love as many volunteers as possible to get involved and there’s a myriad of roles that need to be taken on. We welcome anyone who wants to get involved. You don’t need any previous experience, or availability for the full 47 days, but a love of meeting people is a key attribute.”
