Workington man charged with terrorism offences

[A] Cumbrian man has been charged with terrorism offences.

Shane Fletcher (21/10/97) of Wastwater Avenue, Workington has been charged with possession of a document or record containing information of use to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A spokesman for GMP said: “He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 March 2018.

“On Saturday 10 March 2018, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West and Cumbria Constabulary executed a warrant at a house in Cumbria and it’s not believed that there is any ongoing threat to the local community at this time.”
