[C]atering students from Lakes College recently participated in the International Salon Culinaire in London bringing home a range of medals. The International Salon Culinaire is the UK’s largest and most prestigious chef competition programme.
The Lakes College students successfully bagged: one gold medal, five silver medals, nine bronze medals and four merit awards for a wide range of catering tasks including: filleting, preparation, table laying and cocktail mixology.
Kayleigh Blakely a catering student at Lakes college and gold medal winner commented “I am so pleased that I was able to participate in the competition, it was very nerve racking but I am so proud of both my own and my team’s achievements and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
Sam Craig one of the catering lecturers who accompanied the students at the competition spoke proudly of the student’s achievements “I am so pleased that our students took part in an international competition which is renowned as being one of the hardest. The students have achieved excellence and to come away with the awards they did is absolutely outstanding.”
Chris Nattress (Lakes College Principal) said: “I am unbelievably proud of the students, what a fantastic achievement.”
