[A] TEENAGER has been convicted of a host of child sex crimes – including the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
Nicholas Aaron Bell, 18, went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court earlier this month. Bell had denied a total of 14 charges involving seven different female complainants.
Bell insisted none of the incidents occurred as had been alleged at a time when he was aged under 18.
But after a trial lasting almost two weeks, he was convicted by the jury of raping one girl and sexually assaulting two others. He was also found guilty of six offences of causing or inciting four girls to engage in sexual activity; having a bladed article in a public place; and a common assault by jabbing that blade towards a girl who felt “scared”.
Bell, of Wyndham Row, Broughton Moor, was found not guilty of causing or inciting one girl to engage in sexual activity; he was also acquitted of a common assault charge which alleged that he drove his car at another girl.
Recorder Julie Clemitson adjourned the case and will sentence Bell on a date to be fixed.
In the meantime the teen was remanded in custody.
