[W]orkington Library is to undergo a partial refurbishment.
This will include installing new flooring and shelving on the ground floor. The new shelving will be on wheels, allowing more space for activities, and the opportunity to expand the range of activities and workshops the library is able to host.
In order to carry out the improvement works, Workington Library will close at 5pm on Friday 20 April and re-open at 9am on Saturday 28 April.
Councillor Deborah Earl, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “I am delighted that works to refurbish Workington Library will be commencing soon, the additional space created is a fantastic opportunity for library users and community groups to get more out of their local library. Libraries are a vital part of local communities and here in Cumbria we are determined to protect and invest in them.”
