[P]olice are investigating an in incident of attempted fraud in Brampton.
A man visited the address of an elderly male on Tuesday 3rd April 2018 at approximately 4.45pm.
He was wearing an orange workman’s jacket with words similar to ‘roofing specialist’ written on the back. He was aged in his 20’s/30’s and appeared to be on his own.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The man requested £700 in payment for cleaning work which he claimed to have carried out on the outside of the residents bungalow. The resident had no knowledge of this work being carried out and it is believed that no work had actually been completed.
“If anyone witnessed this man or has any information about him please contact police. Members of the public are also being asked to be vigilant and not to engage with such individual. Do not feel under pressure to hand over money and make contact with the police if such situations arise.”
