[A] man has been banned from all licensed premises in Silloth and additionally,after being convicted of assault and public order offences.
Caris Mackay, 23, of Fell Close, Silloth was convicted of the offences at North and West Allerdale Magistrates Court on 9 April 2018.
One of the assaults was committed at the Balmoral Hotel in Silloth in November last year when he grabbed a man by the head and threatened to “rip his face off”.
Mackay was sentenced to 180 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay compensation and costs.
He was also made subject to a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order which prohibits him from entering any licensed premises which is a member of Silloth Pubwatch Scheme.
He is also banned from entering The Wheatsheaf in Abbeytown, Joiners Arms in Newton Arlosh, Lowther Arms in Mawbray and Silloth Beer Festival.
If Mackay breaches the order by entering one of the premises, he will be committing a criminal offence.
Police Constable Leanne Petit said: “Criminal Behaviour Orders are an extremely useful tool for ourselves and the courts, in seeking to make the community a safe place.
“In this instance, by banning Mackay from all of these licenced premises, these establishments will be able to operate in the knowledge Mackay will be unable to negatively impact their business premises, allowing customers and staff to go about their business without being in fear.
“Anyone who ignores the terms of a Criminal Behaviour Order does so at the risk of a custodial sentence.”
