[A] biker from the Workington area has been taken to hospital in Newcastle after being seriously injured in a crash on the A595.
At approximately 7:10am on Friday 13th April a road traffic collision occurred on the A595 at Beckermet, Egremont, north of Blackbeck roundabout.
The incident involved a silver Honda NT700 motorcycle and a black Nissan X-Trail.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man, from Workington, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, prior to being transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary at Newcastle. His condition is described as serious but stable.
“The driver of the X-Trail, a 50-year-old local woman, and her passenger, a 43-year-old local man, were both taken to West Cumberland Infirmary as a precaution, neither are believed to have been injured.
“The road was closed until 11:30am whilst emergency service attended the scene and police carried out investigation work.”
Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam of the incident, to contact PC 1771 Kidd of the Mobile Support Group on 101.
