Firefighters tackling Whitehaven blaze

Firefighters have been called to a blaze on Preston Street in Whitehaven.

A number of large bushes are on fire next to the IMO garage opposite Home Bargains.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 10:50pm firefighters from Whitehaven were called to reports of a small grass fire on Preston Street, Whitehaven.

“Crews attended the scene and used specialist beaters and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

“The team were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes.”
