Controlled explosion at Manchester Airport

[S]hortly before 5.45pm on Wednesday 25 April 2018, police were called to reports of a suspicious item at Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport.

Officers attended and on examination of the item requested the assistance of the bomb disposal unit.

A controlled explosion has been carried out as a precaution, and the cordon has been lifted.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Enquiries are ongoing.
