Police appeal to identify witness in Penrith rape investigation

[P]OLICE investigating a reported rape in Penrith are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The rape is alleged to have occurred at around 3.30am on 1 April 2018 in the Middlegate area of Penrith, in the area of Three Crowns Lane.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Officers arrested and charged Mark Farrell, 28, of Brougham Street, Penrith with rape.

“He is next due at Carlisle Crown Court on 30 April, 2018.

“During their investigations, officers have identified a potential witness who may be able to provide important information. This man was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the victim and alleged offender together.”
