[C]arlisle City Council elections were held on Thursday, 3 May 2018.
There were 89 polling stations and 180 polling station staff on duty. The election count was held at the Civic Centre.
Elections were held in 17 of the city’s 22 wards:
Carlisle City Council Elections were held in: Belah; Belle Vue; Botcherby; Brampton, Castle; Currock; Dalston; Denton Holme; Harraby; Longtown & Rockcliffe, Morton; St Aidans; Stanwix Rural, Stanwix Urban; Upperby; Wetheral and Yewdale wards.
The total number of eligible voters was 75,311. There was a 32.17% overall turnout (24,228 votes cast).
Prior to the election, the composition of the Council was: 26 Labour Councillors, 21 Conservative Councillors, 4 Independents and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor.
The composition of the Council after the 2018 election is: 25 Labour Councillors, 22 Conservative Councillors, 4 Independents and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor.
