[A] MAN has denied an alleged racially aggravated assault on a Carlisle shop security guard.
Steven Robson, 54, faced the charge when he appeared at the city’s crown court earlier today (TUES).
This arises out of an incident at the M&S store, Kingstown, on September 25 last year.
Robson pleaded not guilty to the charge of racially aggravated assault by beating of Reza Dadpour. This alleges that at the time of the alleged assault Robson “demonstrated towards him hostility based on his membership or presumed membership of a particular racial group, namely being Iranian”.
Robson, of Yewdale Road, Carlisle, was told his crown court trial, before a jury, is due to start on June 4.
In the meantime he was granted conditional bail by Judge James Adkin.
