[A]t 1:26am today Wednesday 9 May firefighters from Kirby Lonsdale, Kendal, Milnthorpe and Sedbergh were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M6 northbound between junctions 36 and 37.
On arrival at the scene crews found that the trailer of an articulated lorry was well alight.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Two compressed air foam system branches and four breathing apparatus sets were used to extinguish the fire.
“The water bowser from Penrith Fire Station also attended.
“Runoff drains at the incident site were covered with dammit solution to prevent foam entering.
“The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, he is believed to suffering from shock.
“Crews were in attendance for approximately five hours.”
