[T]WO men have admitted carrying out a dawn West Cumbria convenience store robbery during which a staff member was threatened.
Kevin Glover and David Wallace, both aged 34, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning (FRI).
Both men pleaded guilty to robbing an employee at McColl’s, Church Street, Harrington, of a quantity of cigarettes. Glover also admitted having offensive weapon in public.
The charges arise out of an armed robbery which occurred at the shop at around 6-35am on April 9. The court heard about the presence of a makeshift weapon – “a knife with a razor blade attached”. This is said to have been used threaten the employee during the crime.
Neither of the defendants was legally represented for the short hearing.
Judge James Adkin ordered pre-sentence reports on the men, both of Poole Road, Workington.
Judge Adkin told them: “The court needs more information about you, your background and the risk you may present of causing harm to members of the public by committing similar robbery offences in the future.”
The judge remanded both Glover and Wallace in custody. They are due to be sentenced at the crown court on June 8.
