[A] LAKES hotel worker who made “poor” progress with a court punishment has been spared prison.
Tomasz Kuznik, 24, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court last month. Kuznik admitted failing to report for some unpaid work he received for a drug-driving offence committed in breach of a previously-suspended prison team. He was also said to have failed to keep in touch with his supervising probation officer.
At risk of custody, Kuznik had his case adjourned for a month in order that he could prove himself.
He was back in court today (TUES), when a judge heard he had completed some hours but also missed three out of six sessions.
However, the court heard Kuznik, of Oakthwaite Road, Windermere, was committed to reporting for unpaid work every week and was set to be offered a steady shift pattern that would allow him to do so.
Recorder David Potter spoke of Kuznik’s “generally quite poor progress”. But he opted not to lock him up, imposing 14 extra unpaid work hours and £150 costs.
However, he warned Kuznik: “There must be no further slippage.”
