[P]olice are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Penrith.
The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred at approximately 2.23pm on Market Square yesterday (14th May).
A silver Mercedes mounted the pavement and collided with a pedestrian before colliding with two other cars.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 50s from Penrith, is at the Royal Victoria Infirmary where her condition is described as critical but stable.
“The driver of the Mercedes, a 90 year-old male from Penrith, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary. He was pronounced deceased in the early hours of this morning (15th May).
“The two other vehicles involved were a Mazda 2 and a Renault Koleos.”
Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident, to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 117 of the 14th May.
