[A]t 10.57pm yesterday, Tuesday 15 May two fire engines from Coniston and Ambleside fire stations were called to a report of a fire in a domestic property at Barnhowe, Elterwater near Ambleside.
On arrival crews discovered that the roofspace of the single-storey property was well alight.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to fight the fire. A main jet was also used.
“Firefighters wore safety equipment to access the roofspace before removing roof tiles and plasterboard to identify hotspots.
“The fire spread through a void in a wall. Firefighters extinguished the fire and removed the wall.
“They were in attendance for around three-and-a-half hours.”
