[A] joint investigation has been launched after a fatal shed fire in Northern Moor.
Shortly after 1pm on Monday 21 May 2018, police were called to reports that a shed was on fire on Mossdale Road in Northern Moor.
After the fire was extinguished, a search of the shed was carried out and a body was found.
Enquiries into how the fire started are ongoing with colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and next-of-kin have been informed.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward and help enquiries.
Inspector John Picton of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “First and foremost I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family who have lost a loved one.
“It’s very early in our investigation, but we’re working closely with the fire service to find out exactly how this happened.
“I would ask anyone who saw something, or who has information about what happened earlier this afternoon, to please contact police.”
