[S]t Mary’s Church, Threlkeld doesn’t have any toilets which is something the new Lay Minister Susi Wood, is looking to change. She hopes to kick start the appeal to raise £250,000 by raising £5,000. She has come up with the idea of getting a number 2 so people can do a number 2 in church!
St Mary’s hosts many events linked to the school on top of the usual community events you would expect. When someone needs the toilet they have to either visit the very understanding Horse & Farrier or go outside. Neither of which is ideal, especially for children.
Susi Wood said ‘Toilets are something we really need, my mind was made up when during a school Christmas performance when the weather was awful outside there was a steady procession of children needing the toilet. They felt awkward asking to leave and returned all wet!
I want to show how much this means to me and the village by getting my hair (which I’m rather proud of) shaved off.’
Susi is hoping to raise at least £5,000 by Saturday 9th June when she will lose her hair at a Strawberry Tea in the garden of The Rectory, Threlkeld. This will take place between 2pm and 5pm and there will be a bouncy castle for children.
So please, spend more than a penny for the children and, if you can, gift aid your donation.
How to Donate: Cheques made payable to St Mary’s PCC can be sent to Dr Susi Wood, The Rectory, Threlkeld, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 4RT or go to justgiving.com/crowdfunding/No2forNo2s or come along and enjoy the fun on Saturday 9th June.
