[T]he organisers of Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) have revealed a late addition to an already packed line up of events and attractions for this year’s event.
New for 2018, the Blacks Air Display will see the AeroSPARX aerobatic stunt display team and the Osprey Skydiving team take to the skies above Derwentwater to entertain thousands of visitors gathered in Crow Park for the festival’s live music programme on 8 and 9 June.
Now in its 12th year, Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) will run from 8-10 June and offers a packed programme featuring a unique mix of live music, sporting events and outdoor adventures. The hub of the event will be the Festival Village in Crow Park, where two nights of live music will feature acts such as Melanie C, Peter Hook and The Light, The Farm and The Peatbog Faeries.
Ticket holders on both nights will now also be entertained by the Blacks Air Display, featuring both aerobatics and skydiving. The AeroSPARX team will light up the sky in Grob109b gliders, providing a unique display of smooth and graceful flying formations and aerobatics. Meanwhile, the Osprey skydiving team will swoop in over Derwentwater trailing coloured smoke before landing on Crow Park. A highly experienced national touring team of competition pilots, the Ospreys use the latest high-performance parachutes. The team consists of British Skydive Team members and instructors who are based in the Lake District at the Skydive Northwest Centre.
The Blacks Air Display will take place from 7:45pm on Friday 8 June and Saturday 9 June – the AeroSPARX team is set to perform on both nights and the Osprey skydivers plan to perform on the Friday. Both displays are dependent on weather conditions and the Ospreys will try again on Saturday if they can’t perform on Friday. Outdoor retailer Blacks is sponsoring the air display as well as being KMF’s official retail partner.
Nicola Meadley, Keswick Mountain Festival director, comments: “We are thrilled to confirm the Blacks Air Display as part of an already exciting and packed line up for Keswick Mountain Festival 2018. Derwentwater and the Lakeland fells are going to provide a stunning stage for the AeroSPARX and Osprey teams – their displays will be an amazing sight for everyone who is on Crow Park for our live music line-up. It’s going to be a brilliant spectacle!”
