[F]ather Christmas was spotted enjoying his summer holidays in Windermere this week.
The jolly festive man is rarely seen outside of December but decided to visit Windermere on holiday six months ahead of the Windermere Christmas Celebration. This is only recorded summer visit of Father Christmas to the town.
Father Christmas has supported the festive family event for the past two years and is looking forward to returning on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December 2018 to greet children in his grotto at the top of Victoria Street.
Whilst sipping a cocktail outside The Lamplighter Dining Rooms Father Christmas explained the reason for his summer visit: “My ho-ho-holidays are always important to me, the elves and Mrs Clause. But what is most important is a wonderful Christmas spreading joy and happiness.
“To be able to do that this year, here in Windermere, I need help from big boys and girls who can give a few hours to volunteer at the Windermere Christmas Celebration. If you can help, or know someone who can then please get in touch with my team here in Windermere.”
Event Director Kate Barton of Windermere Tourist Information was delighted at the intervention saying; “To have the big man himself visit is always great. We hope his plea for volunteers will drum up the support we need so that we can keep delivering an amazing family event for our town.
“Father Christmas is even offering those that help some goodies including a drink at the Lamplighter Dining Rooms, a tour with Mountain Goat, a trip on Windermere Lake Cruises and a day in the Health Club at Low Wood Bay Resort!”
