[P]olice are appealing for witnesses after officers came across an incident at Bleatarn where a three-year-old boy had been struck by a car.
The incident occurred around 4.15pm on 5 June.
The driver of the car and a female passenger were assaulted by a group of gypsies.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The boy was taken to hospital having suffered a suspected broken leg.
“The driver was being assaulted by people following the incident and thankfully, due to quick attendance, officers prevented this assault from continuing.
“The driver, a 61-year-old man suffered injuries which required medical treatment.”
