[A] FORMER notorious Carlisle football hooligan has been jailed for his role in violence which flared inside a city block of flats.
Paul Dodd, 47, was one of three men – all wielding baseball bats – who kicked their way into two unoccupied Chatsworth Square homes late on March 3.
Two of the men wore head gear to protect their identifies although Dodd, who had no such disguise, was later identified on CCTV and arrested.
Damage totalling £400 was caused to two flats during violent scenes which erupted in front of a stunned eyewitness. “They all looked trouble,” he had stated. “I am pleased no-one was in as I dread to think what they might have done.”
Dodd, whose intention had been to “retrieve some property”, pleaded guilty to affray at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today (MON).
Judge James Adkin heard Dodd – an ex-football hooligan who once wrote an autobiography detailing his “great adventures as a serial soccer yob” – had scores of criminal convictions.
A 12-month jail term was imposed by Judge Adkin, who said Dodd, of Aglionby Street, Carlisle, had been involved in “organised criminality” and “significant disorder”.
