[A] MAN accused of breaking a woman’s nose and fracturing her son’s finger outside their Wigton home has gone on trial.
A jury at Carlisle Crown Court has heard how members of the Pearson family were woken in the early hours of November 14 last year.
A hooded man was seen throwing bricks at Matthew Pearson’s BMW. Mr Pearson and his father tried to detain the man, who was “out of control” and “trying to get away” when he learned police were being called.
As the vandal struggled violently, it is alleged he fractured Matthew Pearson’s finger, and broke the nose of his mother, Sarah, with a flailing arm.
It is alleged that the man responsible was 28-year-old Ben Wiggins, of Brindlefield, Wigton, who denies charges which allege the damaging of property, grievous bodily harm and also actual bodily harm assault.
Jurors have heard Matthew Pearson recognised Wiggins, but the defendant denies committing any offences.
The trial continues.
