[A]llerdale Borough Council is carrying out a major consultation on how people feel about their local area.
The Council’s Residents’ Survey will soon be hitting the doormats of over 6,000 randomly selected households.
The survey looks at a number of issues including how residents feel about Allerdale Borough Council services as well as those provided by partner organisations, what services are a priority for them, and how they view their local area and town. There are also questions about everyday living costs, the person’s health and wellbeing, and future job prospects.
Carried out every two years, the survey should only take about 15 minutes to complete and the results will be used to inform future services and priorities.
The specialist research company, NWA, is carrying out the survey on behalf of the Council. All data will be anonymised so that no-one will be able to be identified from the final results.
In 2016 the results showed that 73% of respondents were satisfied with Allerdale Borough Council’s services up from 39% in 2008. Some 82% of people were satisfied with their local area as a place to live.
Alan Smith, Leader of the Council, said: “I’d encourage everyone who gets a survey to take the time to respond. It really is important to us to understand what issues our communities face and what are their priorities and the results will go towards developing our future plans. We are a listening Council and really do act on these results to meet the demands of our residents. I think that is one reason why we have enjoyed such high satisfaction levels in the past.”
There will also be an online version of the survey for those residents who do not get a survey and would still like to have their say. As the number of postal surveys will be determined by the population of each area, the online results will be kept separate from the postal results to ensure they remain statistically accurate.
