Firefighters tackle Carlisle railway embankment blaze

[A]t 4:05pm yesterday, Tuesday 26 June firefighters were called to grass on a railway embankment which was well alight on Regent Street, Carlisle.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Two hose reels were used to extinguish the fire which measured approximately 50 metres.

“The crews also used beaters to put out the flames.”
