[A] man has been flown to hospital after a Land Rover overturned on the M6 southbound near Carlisle.
Emergency services were called to the collision between J45 and J22 of the A74(M) at 1:12pm.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival crews discovered a male was trapped in a Land Rover.
“They used cutting equipment to free the casualty from the vehicle and handed him over to the care of air ambulance paramedics.
“He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria hospital in Newcastle.
“Firefighters helped to make the scene safe before leaving.”
The road was initially blocked before one lane was reopened, causing long delays for drivers.
All lanes have now reopened.
