[T]WO brothers have been found not guilty of an alleged robbery and attack on a Carlisle businessman.
Ergun Kesgin, 38, and 29-year-old sibling Mesut Kesgin had each faced two charges following an alleged incident at the city’s Charcoal Grill outlet on Shaddongate.
Both brothers had denied the alleged robbery and wounding of proprietor Mahmut Keser on January 15, and had been due to face trial before a jury.
But at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON), barrister Arthur Gibson announced that a decision had been taken by the Crown Prosecution Service to offer no evidence against the brothers.
Recorder Kevin Grice told the brothers, previously of Seatoller Close, Carlisle, and now of Edmonton, London: “It is therefore a complete acquittal, and no further matters arise as a result of this.”
Recorder Grice added: “You are both, therefore, free to go.”
