[W]alsingham Support Staff Sarah Smith and Nadine Suitor have scooped the award in the Best Employer category at the National Learning and Disabilities and Autism Awards. The Awards, held on Friday 29th June in Birmingham, celebrate excellence in providing quality care and support for people with learning disabilities across the country.
Their Crummock Road Service in Cumbria received a rare ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC recently, and the award is further recognition of the work they do in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
Facing tough competition in the social care world, the pair were delighted to receive such widespread recognition for their excellent support work, with the pair remarking: “The whole experience was amazing, from the judging day right through to the gala dinner awards night. It’s great to feel that all the hard work and dedication provided by ourselves and the team has been recognised.”
They won the category that celebrates exceptional employers who are committed to delivering an excellent service to people with learning disabilities or autism and their families, with the judges saying:
“Walsingham Support’s passion and drive to enhance the lives of people they support was inspirational. We felt they were a dynamic team who focussed on making a tangible difference.”
Walsingham Support’s Regional Director for the North Allison Alford said: “Sarah and Nadine certainly deserved to win this award, their drive and dedication has created changes for people they support that has transformed their lives. Seeing them both receive the award was wonderful, and seeing the people we support from Crummock joining in with the celebrations was fantastic.”
