Police appeal after Whitehaven grass fires

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of suspected arson.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “At around 8:30pm on Wednesday 4th July, fires were started by an unknown source, on the footpath from Lakeland Avenue, Mirehouse, Whitehaven leading down to the Main Road near Greenbank.”

If you have seen anyone in the area actively trying to set fire to patches of grass, or acting suspiciously please contact PC 2424 Pattinson on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
