[A] MAN accused of sexually abusing both a boy and girl four decades ago has gone on trial at Carlisle Crown Court.
William Christopher Harrison, 65, denies five historical allegations, all of which date back to the 1970s. Three charges allege that Harrison, of Stainton, near Carlisle, indecently assaulted a young girl of primary school age. He also denies two charges which allege indecent assaults of a boy earlier in the decade.
Both complainants gave interviews to police as adults and made allegations.
“Christopher Harrison,” the man said, “took advantage of me.”
When the woman was interviewed, she said she “wished” alleged sexual offending by Harrison “had never happened”. “I didn’t understand why that was happening,” she also stated.
However, prosecutor Nigel Booth had earlier told jurors when opening the trial: “It is Mr Harrison’s case that (the female) is not telling the truth, just as his case is that (the male) is not telling the truth.”
The trial continues.
