[A]thletes from Penrith’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School have been selected to compete for Cumbria.
Esme Davies, Year 12, and Harry Miles, Year 10, have qualified for the English Schools Track and Field Championship Final. They will both be part of the 24-strong Cumbria team and will be competing at Alexander stadium in Birmingham on 13th-14th July. Esme will be running in the senior girls 3,000 m race and Harry in the Inter Boys discus competition.
QEGS students in Year 10 also competed for Cumbria at the recent North Schools Championship round at Gateshead. Sam Almond came 1st in the 400m, Clara Davies 3rd in Long Jump, and Harry Chambers 4th in the Long Jump.
Headteacher, Mr Paul Buckland, said: “QEGS has some very talented athletes and our coaching staff help them develop their skills to bring out their very best. Esme and Harry have worked hard to qualify for the Cumbria county team and we are very proud of their success. We wish the whole team the best of luck.”
