[P]OLICE are investigating a serious two-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at 4:40pm on Friday 13 July at the junction leading to Cargo in Rockcliffe, Carlisle.
The collision involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a silver Ford Mondeo.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver and only occupant of the Freelander, a woman aged in her 40s suffered serious head, neck and back injuries and was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
“Three local males in the Ford Mondeo were treated for minor injuries.”
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews attended the scene and used electronic cutting equipment to release one casualty from the car.
“The casualty was then passed to the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital via air ambulance.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or seen the vehicles being driven in the area prior to the collision.
