[A] TEEN offender has been handed extra community service hours by a judge who heard he “gave the finger” and verbally abused a work supervisor.
Mark Grayshon, 18, was originally sentenced for offences which arose out of a Carlisle car crime. The city’s crown court heard how Grayshon reached almost three times the speed limit through a Botcherby 20mph zone in a stolen vehicle while being pursued by police. He admitted aggravated vehicle taking and two other motoring crimes, and received an 18-month community order including 85 hours’ unpaid work.
But Grayshon was brought back before a judge this week, when he admitted flouting that punishment on two separate dates.
A barrister told the court the teen missed one appointment and then, after he was late for another, “gave a work supervisor the finger” and was abusive.
Judge James Adkin, who heard Grayshon, of Helsington, near Kendal, had shown signs of improvement, added 10 extra hours to the original sentence. But Judge Adkin warned teenager: “There are no second chances.”
