[A] MAN who defrauded an ex-partner and then broke another woman’s nose with a single punch in her own home the following day has been jailed.
Krys Ritson’s offending was outlined today (FRI) at Carlisle Crown Court where he was given an immediate 15-month prison term.
Ritson, 30, had turned up uninvited at the home of Emily Bowness on May 29. He smashed her £200 phone against a wall as they argued and also took her debit card which he then used fraudulently to the tune of £41.
The following day, Ritson went to the home of Stacey Adams at 10pm after she had gone to bed. During a row, he punched her in the face once, breaking her nose, and pushed her into a bannister. She fled and hid in a bedroom before going to hospital.
Ritson – said to have an “appalling” criminal record, particularly for violence – admitted fraud, criminal damage and grievous bodily harm.
Recorder Kevin Grice heard that while remanded in custody the defendant had shown an “excellent” attitude, and that he was “plainly motivated to change”.
But passing sentence, Recorder Grice told Ritson, of Fell View Avenue, Whitehaven: “In my view, this offence against Ms Adams is so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence is appropriate.”
