Firefighters tackle Carlisle blaze

At 6:44am today, Saturday 21 July firefighters from Carlisle East and Carlisle West were called to reports of a fire on Orton Road, Carlisle.

On arrival crews discovered an unused farm building which was well alight.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Additional crews from Wigton and Longtown were called to the scene along with an aerial platform from Carlisle East.

“The team used hose reel jets to tackle the fire from below.

“Crews also used the aerial platform to force entry into the roof and then used further hose reel jets to tackle the fire from above.”
