[L]ake District based self-catering agency Heart of the Lakes continues to support one of the county’s most prestigious sporting events in the annual calendar – the ‘Heart of the Lakes Rydal Round’ at Ambleside Sports. The company is proud to have sponsored the challenging 9-mile fell race that takes in the iconic Fairfield Horseshoe for the past 22 years. Heart of the Lakes took over the sponsorship from Reebok in the early 1990’s and now contributes £500 per year in prize money.
Chris Jackson, Partner at Heart of the Lakes says; “Heart of the Lakes is a family business with deep connections to the area. We’re proud to be involved with the local community and across the year support many organisations and events that help to make the Lake District such a great place to live. We have been sponsoring the ‘Heart of the Lakes Rydal Round Fell Race’ since the early 1990’s and each year are impressed by the tenacity and grit of each runner in the race. We would like to congratulate all who took part in the grueling but equally rewarding challenge event.”
The “The Heart of the Lakes” Rydal Round was the first race of the day at Ambleside Sports on Thursday 26 July. The nine mile race around one of Lakeland’s best known walks known as the Fairfield Horseshoe attracted over 100 runners.
