[I]n celebration of the release of the new Christopher Robin film, Dunmail Park is bringing the Hundred Acre Wood to Workington on Saturday 18th August.
Between 11am and 3pm, visitors to the shopping centre will be transported to the magical woodland where Winnie the Pooh and friends enjoy their adventures. After picking up a Hundred Acre Wood map, young visitors will go on a tour of the shopping centre firstly stopping off at Owl’s house, where they’ll get up close to a variety of owls under the watchful eye of a falconry expert.
Pooh Bear’s home is the next stop where children will help build a giant Winnie the Pooh sculpture from recycled materials, before heading off to search for toy Roos, which will be hidden in a ball pit. Each Roo will give children the chance to win a special prize.
A trip to Hundred Acre Wood wouldn’t be complete without a spot of honey and the final part of the journey will see children learn about the importance of bees to the eco system from an expert bee-keeper. They will also be able to design their own label to stick on a free jar of honey. Please note there will not be live bees in the shopping centre.
Dunmail Park is encouraging children to dress as Christopher Robin for the event and all those that do will also receive a prize.
Mr Donald Dixon, Managing Director of J Dixon & Son Ltd, owners of Dunmail Park, commented: “The stories of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh’s adventures have been firm family favourites for decades and we’re certain the latest film will bring the stories to life for a new generation.
“We’re excited about Hundred Acre Wood coming to Dunmail Park and we’re looking forward to welcoming the local community along to enjoy the day.”
