[A] man who violently assaulted his partner has been jailed for two and a half years.
Perry Lloyd Mason, aged 31, from Sandgate, Penrith, was sentenced today (6th August) at Carlisle Crown Court to 30 months imprisonment for assault GBH and two counts of assault on police officers.
Mason pleaded guilty to the offences committed in April this year in Penrith. Mason subjected his partner to a sustained attack only ending when she managed to escape the flat it occurred in.
Mason is also subject of a lifetime restraining order.
Detective Constable Bev Barnes, North Cumbria Public Protection Unit, said: “Perry Mason subjected his partner, who was 15 weeks pregnant, to a violent and sustained ordeal leaving her covered in her own blood.
“He strangled her and repeatedly assaulted her resulting in over 50 injuries which included severe bruising as well as internal and external bleeding.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the victim in reporting what happened to her. I hope that this can provide her with some form of closure.
“Mason is rightly now in prison for this horrific attack. He is a violent individual who also assaulted two police officers whilst they arrested him.
“Domestic abuse will not be tolerated in Cumbria – no one should have to live in fear in their own home. I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to get in touch; all reports will be dealt with sensitively and professionally.”
